Anti-Semitism in the Netherlands

anti-semitismIn a recent interview on national Dutch TV, a group of Turkish-Muslim teen immigrants to the Netherlands revealed shocking anti-Semitic beliefs about the Holocaust and the Jewish people. The teens made statements such as, “I am satisfied with what Hitler did with the Jews,” and “Jew equals evil.” An article about the interview from The Times of Israel  along with a video clip of the interview can be found here.

What does this say about the context in which these kids are being brought up – both the liberal Dutch setting, and the more particular Turkish background?  What kind of adults and decision-makers will these kids grow up into?  And what does that say of the societies of which they are a part – or will be a part?
