Gilad Shalit’s Release

12 Oct

Since the abduction of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit by Hamas terrorists on June 26, 2006, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his administration along with many Jewish organizations have made it a top priority to see Gilad Shalit returned home safely to his loved ones in Israel.

Benjamin Netanyahu announced yesterday on October 11, 2011, that Gilad should be returning home in the next few days in exchange for over 1,000 Palestinian terrorists to be returned to Hamas.

Many are ecstatic with the breaking news; however there are those that fear that an exchange for so many terrorists to go free is a huge mistake that will only result in more violence and kidnappings.

The Federation would like to know what you think! Please share your thoughts with us!

I think the IDF and Israel security forces are acutely aware of the threats that they face as well as the possibility of prisoner exchanges and situations like these . In anticipation of such events, I am quite sure they are sure to capture extra terrorists because they realize the demand will always be lopsided.

Israel is very aware of the threats facing them, I am more concerned that Jewish Americans should realize that if we are to really stand with and support Israel, we cannot cow tow to political corectness, we cannot be meek in the face of our adversaries and more than anything, we must re evaluate the way we have been voting. Its time to take a serious look at the values of the Liberal Democrat Party vs those of the Conservative Republican Party . Modern day, recent and not so recent history reveals that Democrats who portray themselves as the party for the oppressed, are in fact the oppressors. They are the party which founded/inhabited the KKK, The White League and other groups which existed to terrorize free blacks and Republicans. They are the party of excessive Gov control, spending and regulation of all aspects of our lives, and usually side with Arabs over Israel. They keep many skeletons well hidden by controlling mosyt media outlets. By contrast Conservative Republican values of Faith, Family , Traditions , Free Market Capitalism and pro life [all the things Democrats fight] are absolutely in line with Jewish values. Conservatives support our homeland and her security issues while the left is notoriously anti military here in the US and for our ally.
The choice is clear and I pray to Hashem that in 2012 my fellow Jews will see the Light and do whats RIGHT. Even the Bible says, the heart of the wise inclines to the right and that of the fool to the left.

WE DID THE RIGHT THING. THEY NEVER LET UP, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, SO NOW WE GO GET THEM AGAIN. THIS IS HOW THEY LIVE, AND THEY RELISH THE FIGHT. THEY DO NOT WANT PEACE. THEY WILL NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT WHEN THEY GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One Jewish life is worth 1000 Palistians. They are so stupid they think it was a victory. Yet it shows how cheap their lives are worth compared to one Jewish. soul.

It is not for us who live comfortably in the diaspora to second guess the Israeli government. This matter has been a most terrible dilemma for them. After all Shalit has been imprisoned for 5 years and there was no other way to have him released.
It is also very sad for the victims of Palestinian terrorism to see the perpetrators released and will be even more distressing if the released terrorists commit further acts of terror, which is very likely.
I would like to see Israel use the death penalty for murderers, after all the Palestinians impose the death penalty on innocent Israeli citizens. Once again it is for the Israeli government to decide. Targeted killing of terrorists is another tool which can be used. This war cannot be fought by being Mr. Nice Guy. This would also save Israel the cost of feeding terrorist prisoners and ensure that they can no longer be used as bargaining chips.

Give them their 1000 prisoners – it would be worth it to have the Isralie citizen home.

What has this terrible choice that Israel has to grapple with have to do with Us electoral politics? I would hope that AYA would keep these major issues separate.

This is not simply an emotional issue–although it is terribly painful. The last time Israel released a large number of prisoners, they brought home one man, and the released Palestinians are reported to have killed 35 Israelis AFTER their release. so, what is the right thing to do?

    Joemen
ALL issues boil down to politics .
