Durban III conference and anti-Israel bias

23 Sep

The UN sponsored anti-Semitic and anti-Israel “hatefest” otherwise known as Durban III, began yesterday at the UN in the United States, in New York.  Anti-Semites throughout the ages would be quite proud! Highlights of Durban I called the Zionist movement one that is “based on racial superiority.”  UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon described Durban I as follows – “the anti-Semitic atmosphere in which it was held, was a particularly unpleasant and divisive chapter in the UN’s history. It is not an event that should be celebrated.” (Learn more about The Durban Declaration and Programme of Action)

Highlights of Durban II made headlines after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave a speech in which he attacked Israel and denied the Holocaust.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, warned that “the pervasiveness of this anti-Israeli feeling, anti-Americanism, is there (at the UN) every day. Don’t be shocked about what’s happening. The Durban III declaration that will be adopted today – it’s part of the initiative that is going on for some time, the central objective of which is delegitmization of the state of Israel.”

Alan Dershowitz has stated, “the reason there is still no peace in the Middle East can be summarized in two letters: UN.”  The Harvard professor continued his attack on the UN, saying “rights of women, children, gays, were ignored, because the UN was too busy debating whether Zionism is racism. The UN has encouraged anti-Semitism, racism and bigotry.”

According to Wikipedia: Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States have all announced that they will boycott Durban III. They charge that the Durban process has been used to promote racism, intolerance, antisemitism and Holocaust denial, and to erode freedom of speech and Israel’s right to exist.

Action Alert: Last week, UN Watch ( was told that it is one of four organization barred from attending the Durban III conference. This is the first time in history that UN Watch has been officially excluded from a UN proceeding. In response, UN Watch filed an urgent complaint with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, the leading figure in the Durban process, asking her to denounce this act of discrimination. While her office pledged to pass on the complaint to the General Assembly President, High Commissioner Pillay is so far refusing to speak out.

Ms. Pillay is the highest profile defender of the Durban III and she must not stay silent. Take action now and call on Ms. Pillay to denounce and intervene to reverse this act of discrimination.
Send Ms. Pillay a message voicing your concern

We want to know what you think, so please share your thoughts on the issue!

President Obama’s speech at the UN should once and for all assure those skeptics that Obama is a true friend of Israel.
I for one am a huge supporter of his re-elect campaign and (despite the critics) believe he will step up after the election and bring the parties to the table and convince each side to make the the painful compromises required for a secure and just peace.

I have been promised a seat on the WH lawn for the historic handshake.

Absolutely not, that was a show. Judge a man by his actions not his words God commands us.
We are to know a man by his deeds as we know a tree by its thorns.
Israel HAS made painful compromise after another and to what end? To continue to be rained upon by missiles, to continue to be hated by neighbors who express desire for her destruction? I know, I lived there.
You cannot “coexist” with those who want to kill you. Simple as that.

If there is one thing we can learn about this administration is that the words are far removed from the deeds and if there is one thing to glean about the UN when looking closely at its past and current actions is that it is notoriously anti israel.

Our country AND our ally Israel cannot afford 4 more years of this obamination
